There is no other course that I know of that could measure up to the magnitude or power of the Software Development
course that is given at Harding University. I took this course my senior year as a requirement to graduate. It combines all
the skills that have been acquired throughout my college career and forces you to place all your emphasis on one project, as a team.
This course creates character in an individual, brings out the true talent that lies beneath you and promotes team work as you
spend countless hours with four other individuals that you call family by the end.
The project for 2001 was the game Backgammon. Confusing as Backgammon might already be, we had to take this game, put a theme to it and
design it to where it was non-traditional, challenging and fun to play all in one nice package. We had to use tools that were available to us.
College students, needless to say, run a tight budet, but we managed to use some nice software packages. These include Visual Studio, Bryce 4,
PhotoShop 5 and other nice products.
Many other attributes are included into this project. Every team need not be original as far as the theme goes, but I am
proud to say that our theme is definitely unique in every way. Originality goes a long way when it comes to selling a product
to the customer. Our team is proud of the product that we developed as well as the friendships that were formed.
